Behind the Scenes: Handle Blanks
The sunlight streams in, warm upon the wood. Each block or set of scales is waiting to be transformed and become a part of a custom Lucas Forge knife. Will it be a Kephart? Or a Classic Hunter? It’s exciting to think of where this wood will travel when formed and ready to take its place in someone’s hand and serve.
The preparation of the blanks and hand-selection of your knife’s handle is undertaken with special care. Each piece of wood is unique, which means your custom knife will have a one-of-its-kind handle!
There are many natural woods available as a custom option for your knife. Curly maple, walnut, ironwood, mesquite, ash, oak, osage, redheart, hickory, rosewood, bacote…and more.
Hope you’ve enjoyed this little glimpse behind the scenes in the shop! Please feel free to check out the Custom Options here and the Lucas Forge knife models here.
