Have you seen the Trapper? It’s part of the Frontier series…a sleek, versatile knife, with a mid-range size that’s ideal for everyday carry and a smart point to help with the most precise cutting tasks.
The Trapper is approximately 7 5/8 inchesĀ overall, with a 3 5/8-inch, O-1 high carbon steel blade. The blade comes ready to go, with a beautiful aged finish, or it can be switched up with a fine, polished satin blade finish…or even a hammer-forged finish for an extra rugged look! You also have the option of adding filework along the spine (as seen here!) for more grip and style.
The Trapper has a combination of two brass pins and a brass lanyard hole as the standard hardware. Or, if you’re looking to fancy it up a bit, the upgrade for 3/16″ mosaic pins also looks mighty nice.
As with all Lucas Forge models, the handle for your own custom Trapper is up to you! There’s a wide variety of handle choices, ready to be selected from. Olive green micarta (as seen in our example here!) is a great choice if you expect to regularly use your knife around water or grimy situations. Trappers also really look sharp when paired with with well-grained or dark woods for a very fancy style.
Each Trapper comes with a signature Lucas Forge leather sheath!
Don’t miss the Frontier page for lots of example photos! Have questions about the Trapper? Shoot them to lucas@customhuntingknives.org. Thank you!

Today’s post features a custom Small Frontier with all the details! Check it out…a spectacular bacote handle,Ā mosaic pins, an aged blade finish, Vine pattern filework, and a custom horizontal sheath!
It looks right at home in the woods.
Today we’re spotlighting RRM’s snazzy custom Scout with a curly maple handle, mosaic pins, an aged blade finish, thumb jimping, and initials on the spine!
As a side note, the Scout is a long-standing original design…it goes way back to the early days of Lucas Forge. Ike carried one for many years, until it met with an untimely, but epic parting in a canoe crash on Sugar Creek! So, this design is a familiar, faithful favorite! Do you have a LF knife adventure story?
We’d love to hear it!
