First up, if you’ve seen that dramatic, dark ironwood handle belonging to a handsome Woodsman Nessmuk, well, now you can see the reverse side! The two sides vary greatly in character, but they combine to create a stunning addition to this knife!
Moving on, we also have some details involving the one-of-its-kind knife called Wildlands. This hammer-forged beauty just feels at home in the hand.

Every Lucas Forge knife goes to its new owner with a custom made leather sheath, crafted here in our Alabama shop.
We cut the leather. Trim it. Dye it. Mold it. Glue it. Form the welt strip. Punch the stitch holes. Oil it. Stitch it. Bevel the edges. Dye the edges. Apply final finish. Do a final quality check for fit. Then the sheath is hand signed.
Every sheath is made to fit properly with its knife. We want a snug fit. Nothing else will do.
The finest ingredients go into these sheaths. We choose USA-tanned leather, bark-tanned Herman Oak leather being our material of choice, and heavy weight nylon thread for the hand stitching (which is a subject all its own!). You’re getting a tough sheath put together to last you a long time.
Most of these leather sheaths are made of just two pieces of leather and much thought goes into the shape and design of those two leather pieces.
We hope you’ve enjoyed a glimpse into the background of the sheath that you get with your knife. Custom options are available for your sheath, too! Check out the Trekker sheath, which is available as an addition to your custom knife! Snap sheaths are also available with some models, such as the Classic Hunter.

It’s exciting to showcase one of the newest custom options in handle materials from Lucas Forge! Does anyone have a guess at what it is?
Well, if you’ve been following the action here, you might know…this cool handle is, in actuality, a phenolic made with genuine coffee bean bags!
The result is remarkable! Natural, and each is truly one-of-a-kind.
Here’s another example, which, again, shows the weave of these upcycled coffeebags. The material makes for a three-dimensional, very unique handle choice!
Just for fun and interest, here are some pictures of a sheet of this coffeebag phenolic (kind of like micarta) before it is turned into handsome knife handles. These bags have probably been well-traveled!
Some of the printing becomes unique dark accents in a handle.
And yes, apparently some of the cargo was even organic coffee beans!

This sheath, which has been handmade by Ike right here in Alabama, is a horizontal snap-over sheath. With such a comfortable sheath, the Ranchero can securely ride, nice and easy, within reach for any number of cutting tasks!

Here are close-up shots of some of these pieces!
It’s hard to beat an aged finish that’s full of character! This one belongs to the Elk River Hunter with a gorgeous ironwood handle.
Take one look at the stabilized maple burl handle on this kitchen knife from Lucas Forge and you know it’s something special! So: a close-up shot is in order. Although the photo can’t do it quite justice, you can see a little more of this fabulous piece…the swirls and burls, small filled pockets, the rich color. It’s elegant.
Here is a view of the other side of this handle.
And while we’re on “other side” pictures, here is a photo of the opposite side of the sweet ironwood-handle Frontier Kephart. Pure class.
