The Lucas Forge Survival Knife was designed in honor of the legendary outdoor writer, Mr. Dan Shechtman. It follows the design elements of Lucas’ Sand Mountain Chopper, with its rugged forged blade and ergonomic handle, yet it features a shorter 8-inch blade. In Mr. Shechtman’s words, “At 8 inches, such a knife can chop well…and still be nimble and light enough on the belt.” This is an ideal camp knife.

  • This special model is approximately 13 1/2 inches in overall length – with a blade length about 8 inches.
  • It can be custom ordered with either a hand-forged 80CRV2 or 52100 high carbon steel blade, or an O-1 tool steel blade with aged finish. Either blade type will be 3/16-inch thick. Special note: Due to supply chain issues and availability I can’t always get 80CRV2 in the size stock I need for this design, so I may need to switch it for the 52100.
  • Three brass bolts and a brass lanyard hole liner, to keep the chopper solid and close at hand.
  • The LFSK is available for custom order with your handle choice of micarta (black or olive green), osage orange, and walnut. Any of these materials are included in the base price.
  • It comes complete with a leather belt sheath, with a tie-down tab. This knife would be a great addition to any camp excursion or survival stash.
