Introducing the Old Guide! The blade and handle design of this special knife from Lucas Forge is reminiscent of the clipped hunting knife blades made popular and well-beloved in the classic days of hunting, when now-legendary big game hunting guides worked the fields and woods. It is a blade shape that is still very popular, and probably one of the most universally recognized today as a design that says “hunting knife.” This knife was created in collaboration with legendary outdoor writer, guide and friend Mr. J. Wayne Fears and was named by him personally.
- The overall length of this model is approximately 9 9/16 inches long. The blade is about 4 3/8 inches long, which leaves a plentiful handle, ideal for large hands or for those who like a lot of working room.
- The clipped blade is constructed of O-1 high carbon tool steel, 1/8-inch thick, with a flat grind.
- The Old Guide comes standard with an aged blade finish.
- Three brass pins, plus the lanyard hole, are also standard. Mosaic pins are available as an upgrade. You can also opt to remove the lanyard hole.
-
Comes in your choice of handle! The Old Guide pictured above has a curly maple handle. Traditional woods like walnut and curly maple make great choices.
- Each knife also comes complete with its own handcrafted leather belt sheath.
The Old Guide model’s base price is $260.
