Powder River Comparison!
If you like hunting knives with a traditional trade knife flair, the Powder River may be the design for you. It has a very traditional profile that’s exceedingly versatile for today’s outdoorsmen.
Today’s post takes a look at two custom Power River knives that are very similar, showing the variation in handle material and blade finishes.
Both of these knives are the 5″ blade version of the Powder River model. Both have three three brass pins and no lanyard hole, a very traditional look! The first knife has the standard aged blade finish; the second knife has the hammer forged finish option. The first knife has thumb jimping added on the spine; the second knife doesn’t have any spine options.
As with an natural handle material, ironwood offers a wide variation in grain patterns and color…your custom knife will be unique and one-of-its-kind!
We hope you’ve enjoyed this comparison post. If you have any questions, or would like to see any additional comparisons between custom options or knife models, please leave us a comment. Thank you for all your support and interest!
Nice comparison of a very attractive design, one of my favorites. But then, all of my LF knives are favorites. The “traditional flares” and aged patinas are spot on. The skill set in building is mentionable. For example, by looking at the handle it is apparent that the two slabs are from the same piece of wood laid upon the tang with grain matching and in doing so blends the two together as though the tang were the saw blade. All of my knifes are built this way. Amazing.
