A Look at the ProSkinner

Today we’re talking about the ProSkinner model! This design got its start with a collaboration between Lucas and Ike, as a knife developed specifically for skinning furbearers. With its smart tip and thinner blade, it is ideal as a skinner, but also for any task requiring precision, such as processing birds and fish or crafting leather items.

The ProSkinner is a practical size for everyday carry. It measures approximately 7 5/8 inches overall. Blade is approximately 3 1/2 inches long and is crafted from 3/32-inch O-1 high carbon steel, with the option to order a 1/8-inch thickness.

The aged blade finish comes standard, as shown here, or you can choose to go with a satin and hammer forged finish, depending on the look you’re going for!

A team of two brass pins and a lanyard hole is the ProSkinner’s standard signature hardware. It also looks great with the upgrade to mosaic pins if you want to go fancy.

As with all Lucas Forge models, you have your choice of many handle materials to truly customize your knife. The knife featured in this post has a classic curly maple handle. If you are intending to use your ProSkinner on a trap line or other regular use with opportunities for wet and grimy conditions, materials such as laminates, micarta, whitetail and stag antler are great choices.

Each ProSkinner comes with a handcrafted vertical-carry leather belt sheath! A custom horizontal sheath is available upon order.

There’s one more way to customize – fancy up the spine with custom initials, thumb jimping or a patterned filework!
